Parkrun

Parkruns continue to be both an excellent way of speed training and also a regular source of 5k personal bests as two more of our members have recently proved. On the 7th January Scott Chadwick took part in the Gorleston parkrun and achieved a silver standard pb of 20.31, whilst on the 14th January in the Norwich run Rebecca Widdows managed a bronze standard pb of 24.18.

New Years Day 10k

Whilst most of us could be forgiven for staying in bed and groaning, 11 committed Jaguars joined over 400 other runners for the first Norfolk race of the year at Wymondham. Steve Niblett was our first member to finish with gold standard 39.39, whilst Ken Bowman with a diamond standard 41.57 took first prize in his category. Fortunately the late 11.30 start gave Ellie Bye a couple of extra hours to shake off her sore head and she turned in a fine performance with a pb of 48.58.

Clearly the winter training has been going well as none of the others who ran gave any less than a silver standard performance. Therefore there are no excuses for the rest of us. These 11 have set the benchmark for the rest to follow. Whilst last year saw some excellent results for the club, this year is looking like it might be even better. Happy Running!
