ST NEOTS 1/2 MARATHON
On the 19th November Myself and Sue ran the Saint Neots half marathon with the support of Andy. The weather was very kind to us and when standing in the sun it was hard to believe it was November! We picked up our registration numbers from the hall and then joined the long queue for the portable toilets – luckily there were quite a few. Whilst waiting we decided to try a new warm up of piggy back races which passed most of the time. I was feeling anxious due to how horrible Peterborough had felt due to the weather and being ill. We entered the starting pen and we noticed a few pacers with balloons which was a nice touch for a half marathon. The race itself was very undulating- you were either running up or down but the views were incredible. I settled into my run and loved every second of it. My highlight was when I missed a jelly baby pot and a runner ahead heard me, stopped and turned and gave me half of hers! The finish was a great downhill slope which helped me to get a PB by 3minutes and 27seconds and a Bronze standard half marathon time! I would definitely race here again.
