RUTLAND HALF MARATHON 16/09/2018

Sorry to miss the RNR this year, but I ran the Rutland Half Marathon last weekend. Managed 2nd in age category even with a really slow time, just 10-minute miling. It was a very windy day (although that wasn’t really a problem), and the tracks were very crowded as the course was two out-and-backs along the lake side from the start area. There were more or less continual short, sharp climbs and descents (a novelty for a Norfolk girl) apart from about four level miles, but it was a really friendly, scenic event; the bonus was having a leg massage at the end – included in the price. The marathon looked gruelling and the results show that loads of people didn’t finish! There were some serious climbs in the last 13 miles, apparently. Would recommend if it weren’t on the RNR weekend, but they do hold a halfmarathon in April every year.
