Vitality North London Half Marathon – 12 March 2017
On Sunday 12th March myself (Stephen Pointer) and Emma Wilcock were in London to take part in the Vitality North London Half Marathon. The race was an 8.30am start from outside Wembley Stadium with the finish to be inside the stadium itself. The weather was cool, overcast but dry for the start which was ideal conditions for nearly 6000 runners taking part. The course was undulating with hills during the first 4 miles and the last 4 miles as the course took on an out and back route with Saracens Rugby Stadium being the half way point. As the race went on the weather turned to light rain and was steady by the end. Not dampened by the weather the course had several brass and drum bands playing keeping the runners going aswell as the regular water and lucozade stops. We approached Wembley Way to conclude the race and entered into the stadium with good crowds to see all the runners past the line. We collected our race medals, goody bags and t-shirts and took a seat in the stadium to take in our achievement. Our finishing time was 1.53.24 and a great day had by the both of us, all be it with some aches and pains!
