Felbrigg Trail Run – 4 October 2015

Surf Life Saving – Felbrigg Trail Run

Driving to Felbrigg Hall on the morning of Sunday 4th October, the fog was a real pea-souper and the idea of a scenic cross-country run in National Trust grounds seemed unlikely.

But just as the race briefing began, amazingly the fog lifted to reveal bright blue skies and sunshine – and a really interesting course. The 10k route which all five Jags opted for was two laps of a figure of eight course, either side of the Hall itself. A single lap (5k) or single loop (2.5k), were also available.

It was tough but good. The undulating course had it all; gravel paths, woods, grassy slopes, cow fields, lakeside path, a couple of muddy bits and even a kissing gate….but no time to stop for any of that malarkey!

Andy Runner Mulligan did himself proud, romping home to claim overall first place for the Jags in 39.46

Vickie was second lady across the line….and also managed to promote the Jags with some surprise photographic coverage in the Eastern Daily Press!

The race was the run by NNSLSC North Norfolk Surf Life Saving Club and was the first one they had opened for general entries. It was chip-timed, well marshalled, well organised and very friendly. And definitely worth keeping an eye open for in the future.
