57th Dovedale Dash
The 57th year of the Dovedale Dash proved to be as popular as ever with over 1500 runners taking part. When The Jaguars arrived at the start they were met by other Norfolk runners from Wymondham AC who had also made the trek up to run this demanding race. The day was dry but very cold so we knew the river crossing wouldn’t be pleasant but at least the cold numbs parts of the body and makes the pain more bearable. The start was amazing with 1500 people charging down the steep hill, jumping over rocks, running through deep mud and just trying to stay upright although a few didn’t achieve this and there were a few bodies rolling down the hill (I think that might be classed as cheating). The course itself proved to be the muddiest it has ever been with runners getting stuck, losing shoes, sliding down bankings and yet everyone seemed to be having a great time and the atmosphere was fantastic. Our team members all ran well with Mark Haynes finishing in a superb 52nd position. Darren Edridge was next in 210th place and then Ady Jay in 567th place. Sarah Jay ran strongly to finish in 647th place and further down the field were the knackered knees duo of Dave Hutcheon 973rd and Brenda Hutcheon 998th. We were joined by ex-member Clive Steward who was 195th and Paul and Julie Jarvey who were 451st and 1398th respectively. The inter-club team winners were Mark, Darren and Julie. We all had a great week-end with good company, good food and drink and no injuries. Roll on next year. Website Video
