The Perkins Great Eastern Run

There were some very good performances by the 6 Jaguars who crossed the border for the Peterborough half marathon, Ben Dennington ran very well in his first half for the club, whilst Sze-Ming Chung narrowly missed out on a personal best by 1 second.  Stewart Marden had another good run achieving a personal best. Performance of the day however should be awarded to Deb Jones who with a gold standard time of 1.42.18 took an amazing 12 1/2 minutes from her previous best! and gave her the age category record.

Shouldham Warren 5k Cross Country

This was the  first cross country of the year and once again the sun was shining on Shouldham. It was good to see Lawrence Wade, Richard and Dawn Collyer and Christine Cooke having a go at this cross country event for the first time, which is all part of good winter training ,and hopefully they will turn out  for the next race in November which is the extra tough hilly 9k.   Lawrence was 6th senior man in 18.07, Richard 8th v40 in 20.50, Dawn 8th senior lady in 25.20 and Christine 8th v45 in 24.37. Other regular runners at Shouldham were Darren Edridge 5th v4o in 19.28, Sarah Jay 6th v45 in 23.59, Dave Hutcheon ,who took a nasty tumble near the start of the race but managed to pick himself up and carry on  was  8th v60 in 26.10 and Brenda Hutcheon 3rd v55 in 27.01. There were two mini jags running in the under 9’s 800 metre race and both ran excellent p.b’s. Maggie Mayo was 6th girl in 3.37 and Alana Edridge 23rd girl in 4.22.  The next race in the series is on November 18th.   Full results

PSUK 10 Mile Road Race

Three Jaguars were eligible to take part in this years PSUK National 10 Mile Championships, and this year it was a home fixture taking place in and around the grounds of Sandringham. In near perfect running conditions the two lap course was completed by the winner in just over 54 minutes, Richard Collyer finished in the slightly more sedate pace of 1.15.32 (silver standard). Emily Hannant finished with an excellent personal best 1.19.05 (silver standard) and in the process was part of the Norfolk senior ladies team that took second place overall and first place in the minor forces category. Dawn Collyer in finishing with a time of 1.28.04  ran extremely well to achieve a personal best for the distance.

Special thanks should also go to the following Jaguars who gave up their free time to assist in the race organisation, Brenda Hutcheon, Dave Hutcheon, Jackie Bye, Ady Jay, Christine Cooke and Jackie Harrop. Your help was invaluable and very much appreciated. Thanks also to the club for the use of some vital equipment.

Isle of Axholme Half Marathon

Sze-Ming Cheung took  4 minutes of his personal best time at the Epworth Half Marathon which gave him a gold standard time of 1.27.22.

In Sze’s own words below:-

Situated in the picturesque small market town of Epworth North Lincolnshire, the single lap course is renowned for its flat profile throughout and long straight beside the River trent. Conditions were perfect: 12c, light crosswind breeze and overcast. Supplemented with friendly local support and a lively start/finish area, it made for fab race well worth the long journey with PB potential.

Round Norfolk Relay

RNR Report by Becky Durant

The weekend of 15th /16th September was a very exciting and busy one for the Jaguars. Whilst three brave members ran up and down hundreds of steps in Lowestoft, 17 others raced round Norfolk, covering exactly 197 miles between them.

It was very hot at 9:30 Saturday morning when, amidst shouts of excitement from fans and supporters, our first runner left Kings Lynn. It was still hot 24 hours and two minutes later when our last runner galloped across the finishing line to be greeted by a host of Golden Cheers from tired but excited Jaguar Supporters.

We did well. We came fourth in the Club Class Category and 11th overall out of 58 Teams. The success of the race was due largely to the diligent preparation of the runners and the precision of the helpers. If there was a prize for the slickest, neatest handovers we would surely have won.

A huge “thank you” to everyone who made this weekend such fun. Only another year before the next RNR.   RNR Website

Lowestoft Scores

3 brave members tackled the 409 steps of the notorious Lowestoft Scores Race and had great results coming away with a medley of prizes. Sue Allen won the ladies 50+ and Heather Hollister the ladies 60+.  Adele Bushell was running the race for the first time and thought it was fantastic (she must be mad) and together the three won the second ladies team prize.   Full Results    Prizes

Framlingham 10k

Jon Reader was the sole Jaguar to enter the Framlingham 10k and his recent training for the Round Norfolk Relay has obviously paid off as he ran one of his fastest times for years with an excellent  silver standard time of 42.21.

Some excellent running in recent Parkruns has produced personal 5k best times for 3 Jaguars. On the 25th August Ana Ohde ran the Norwich event in a time of  23.19 (silver standard), and on the 1st of September also in Norwich, Ellie Bye (21.22 – silver) and Orla Cobb (29.17) also completed 5k p.b’s.

Wissey Half Marathon

Only 3 Jaguars travelled to Oxborough for the Wissey Half Marathon and whilst Sze-Ming Cheung was looking for a time around 1.30 he cannot have been disappointed with his finishing time of 1.31.41 giving him a silver standard in his first run at this distance for the club. Becky Durant turned in her usual excellent display with a gold standard time of 2.12.57 which also gave her a silver county medal. Richard Collyer, convinced the course was all uphill, also ran with a time of 1.47.34.
