SATURDAY  5TH JULY - Lord Mayors 5K

Most of the athletes competing in the Lord Mayor's 5K found the going tough as no one got near the course record of 14.11.  Mark Haynes was the only Jag taking part and ran well in this elite field to finish 53rd in 18.56.  It was good to see lots of club members out there supporting Mark and some of these supporters will, hopefully, be running it next year.   Full Results

CAPE WRATH CHALLENGE 2008 -  Durness Scotland

8 norfolk runners and a dog, including two Coltishall Jaguars, ran the Challenge this year.  And a challenge it certainly is.  Day one is a 10k or half marathon on a very hilly course, day two is a 5.5 hill run, day three a 8.5 mile loch and hill run, day four a beach run with just a few hills thrown in for a change !  day five a rest day (yipee) and then the actual challenge race is on the Saturday. The challenge is a marathon (26.2 miles) run as an individual or teams of two, three or five.  If anyone had seen us hobbling down to the start after our hard week they wouldn't have expected us to start the race never mind finish it but finish it we did.  The only win came from  Nigel Arnold of Norfolk Gazelles who won the two man team with a runner he'd teamed up with from Inverness.  This is a brilliant event and would recommend it to all whatever your abilities.  The Durness community also put on a wonderful social programme with events every evening.       Photos

SUNDAY 27TH APRIL - 'Chase The Train'

SUNDAY 9TH MARCH - Mondi Relay

Steve Bates, Darren Edridge and Mark Haynes came second in the Mondi Relay being outdone only by the youngsters of March AC. This was the trios first team prize.  Steve ran a fast first leg to hand over to Darren in third place.  Darren ran another fast leg and pulled back a place to hand over to Mark in second position.  Mark held on to second  position and was also the fastest on that leg.  The other team of Brenda Hutcheon, Alison Horner and Dave Hutcheon finished in 9th spot.  The distances were not split exactly into 5 miles. The first leg was approx 4.7 miles, the second leg 5.3 miles and the last leg 5 miles.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable event and considering the entry fee was only £5.00 we all received a tee shirt, a bacon buttee and a cup of tea - who could ask for more.  Our  main supporter little Alana was once again present cheering us on in full  voice.     Full Results

SUNDAY 3RD FEBRUARY - Houghton Hall X/C

What should have been a good County Championship event was marred by the lack of competitors and bad organisation.  Even the weather did nothing to help with a biting cold wind adding to the frustrations.  With all that to contend with Darren Edridge ran a very competitive race to finish 7th in his 35-44 age group.  Dave Hutcheon wasn't going to run due to an injury but decided it was better to run and keep warm than freeze to death as a spectator. Brenda Hutcheon was 2nd in the age group 55-64.  Full Results
