Handicap Series General Info
Dates for this year are as follows:
Swanton Abbott 10k – Thursday 12th April 2018 – 6:30pm Start
Sea Palling 5k – Tuesday 19th June 2018 – 6:30pm Start
North Walsham 5M – Tuesday 17th July 2018 – 6:30pm Start
Brundall 5k (Parkrun Course) – Thursday 16th August 2018 – 6:30pm Start
Mike Groves 10k – Tuesday 4th September 2018 – 6:30pm Start
Horning 10M/10k – Sunday 4th November 2018 – 8:00am Start
Buxton Fancy Dress Xmas 5k – Sunday 2nd December 2018 – 8:00am Start
Races are mass start
Each runner must give a time prediction for each race (normally in the week before each race).
Points are awarded at each race for positions 1st to 15th
Points system is 25,20,16,13,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1
Only the best 4 results count towards final scores
The male and female with the most points at the end of the year wins
How to win each event:
5k – finish closest to predicted time
5miles/10k – first finisher who is less than 30 seconds faster than predicted time wins, anyone who runs more than 30 seconds faster than predicted will have a time penalty applied
10miles – first finisher who is less than 1 minute faster than predicted time wins, anyone who runs more than 1 minute faster than predicted will have a time penalty applied
Penalties Example: If runner A predicts 45minutes for the 10k event and finishes in a time of 44:29 then they will have 31seconds added to their time at the end.
NEW FOR 2018 – TEAM COMPETITION
Teams must consist of 3 runners but this can be any 3 runners, there’s no male/female split.
Points are awarded on an individual basis – so if you’re in a team then you’re automatically in the individual competition too.
The individuals points count towards the team score
Runner A scores a 1st, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 15th, 10th and 2nd over the 7 races
Runner B scores a 3rd, 7th, 17th, 12th, 2nd, 1st and 11th
Runner C scores a 10th, 9th, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 19th and 1st
