The 57th year of the Dovedale Dash proved to be as popular as ever with over 1500 runners taking part. When The Jaguars arrived at the start they were met by other Norfolk runners from Wymondham AC who had also made the trek up to run this demanding race. The day was dry but very cold so we knew the river crossing wouldn’t be pleasant but at least the cold numbs parts of the body and makes the pain more bearable.The start was amazing with 1500 people charging down the steep hill, jumping over rocks, running through deep mud and just trying to stay upright although a few didn’t achieve this and there were a few bodies rolling down the hill (I think that might be classed as cheating). The course itself proved to be the muddiest it has ever been with runners getting stuck, losing shoes, sliding down bankings and yet everyone seemed to be having a great time and the atmosphere was fantastic. Our team members all ran well with Mark Haynes finishing in a superb 52nd position. Darren Edridge was next in 210th place and then Ady Jay in 567th place. Sarah Jay ran strongly to finish in 647th place and further down the field were the knackered knees duo of Dave Hutcheon 973rd and Brenda Hutcheon 998th. We were joined by ex-member Clive Steward who was 195th and Paul and Julie Jarvey who were 451st and 1398th respectively. The inter-club team winners were Mark, Darren and Julie. We all had a great week-end with good company, good food and drink and no injuries. Roll on next year. Website Video
7 Jaguars made history by competing in the very first Sheringham Park Run. Everyone enjoyed the breathtaking views and ran well on this very hard course which is mainly off road, very hilly and very muddy. I recommend the Jaguars give it a try if only to enjoy the seascape and exciting swoop down towards the steam trains.

Six Jaguars saddled up to take on the jumps of the Mucky Races Cross Country 10 k steeplechase at Blackwater Farm, Great Witchingham. All of them got very muddy crawling over the jumps and jumping through the ditches in the name of having a good time. Andy Mulligan was first Jaguar to finish, coming home in 19th overall whilst Sze-Ming Cheung set a more sedate pace in helping a friend round.

The fast, flat rural course for the Holt 10k especially suited Grant Randall and Jackie Bye who both set new personal bests and despite the cold the other 8 Jaguars all recorded very good times. Steve Bates was the fastest Jaguar with a superb time of 37.37 and 6 runners recorded gold standard times or better. Ken Bowman in finishing with a time of 43.35 took the club 65 – 70 age category record.
|Grant Randall||42.27 (pb)||Gold|
|Vicky Tovell||49.25 (1st)||Silver|
|Jackie Bye||49.31 (pb)||Gold|
A busy weekend for the Jaguars, with Mark Harmer travelling furthest to complete the Amsterdam marathon in and excellent bronze standard 3.37.27.
Other marathon runners were Andrew Mulligan and Becky Durant who ran a one off race to celebrate 25 years of Great Yarmouth Road Runners. Held over 3 laps of a flat seafront course the race became more difficult as it went on as the weather became colder and windier, but both Jaguars ran very well, Andy with a bronze standard 3.22.25 and Becky with a bronze standard 5.35.32.
Held in conjunction with the marathon the annual East Coast Run took in part of the same course in a change from the route used in previous years. This obviously suited most of the Jaguars who took part with some great results. Lawrence Wade was first to cross the line for the club with a gold standard time of 37.45. Not far behind was Matthew Stone who in a time of 38.23 took first place overall in the Male V40 category. Ellie Bye was first lady home, in the process smashing both her personal best and taking 2 minutes from the club 10k record. She also took third prize in the senior female category and together with Christine Cooke and Claire Owen took third place in the ladies team category. Scott Chadwick, Christine Cooke and David Brailey also ran personal bests whilst Sze-Ming Cheung ran the distance for the first time.

There were some very good performances by the 6 Jaguars who crossed the border for the Peterborough half marathon, Ben Dennington ran very well in his first half for the club, whilst Sze-Ming Chung narrowly missed out on a personal best by 1 second. Stewart Marden had another good run achieving a personal best. Performance of the day however should be awarded to Deb Jones who with a gold standard time of 1.42.18 took an amazing 12 1/2 minutes from her previous best! and gave her the age category record.

There were two mini jags running in the under 9’s 800 metre race and both ran excellent p.b’s. Maggie Mayo was 6th girl in 3.37 and Alana Edridge 23rd girl in 4.22.
