Beccles Turkey Trot

The temptation of a year ending race was too much for 18 Jaguars who crossed the border to Beccles for 10 rolling miles. The mild weather produced some excellent results with Steve Cannell and Lawrence Wade both running under an hour. Steve came in 7th overall in his first race at the distance for the club whilst Lawrence ran a personal best. A further 5 Jags also ran personal bests and another 9 raced the distance for the first time. Ellie Bye came in as 4th Jaguar overall in 1.09.32 taking minutes off her previous best and edging ever closer to the club record.

Medals were only given for the first 100 finishers however this was made up for by the handing out of a Christmas pudding to everyone who crossed the line. This year has produced some exceptional results for the club and now is the time to relax for a few days and recharge the batteries for an even better 2014.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

City of Norwich Half Marathon 2013

We had another great turnout of 23 orange vests at the City of Norwich Half Marathon with some excellent results. First home for the Jags in 6th position overall was Steve Cannell who, running his first ever half marathon, smashed the club record in a diamond standard time of 1.16.06. Richard Bateson couldn’t quite hang on to Steve and finished 10th also breaking the club record in a time of 1.17.46. Steve and Richard were not the only ones in the  prize list as Colin Robillard was, once again, first in the 60+ age group in a platinum time of 1.26.22. Roy Owen was 3rd in the 65+ age group and also took the age club record running 1.51.41. Not to be outdone by the boys Ellie Bye showed some true grit down the home straight to claim a new club record by a massive 1 second but did take an impressive 6 minutes off her previous time running 1.34.51. There were many more achievements on the day with Alan Bushell, Paul Allen, Rebecca Widdows, Paul Gerber, Jackie Bye,  Adelle Bushell, and Claire Owen all running pb’s. The first timers for the club were Jon Foot, James Lambert, Martin Colley,  Anthony Norris and Mary Owen. We might be a small club but we are often up there battling it out with the best so roll on the Turkey Trot 10 miler and let’s have another big turn and possibly more prizes and pb’s.

Shouldham Warren 9k Cross Country

Only 5 Jags turned out to tackle the tough 9k hilly cross country course at Shouldham Warren. Marriotts Way Ultra

This event is a free to enter low key ultra ideal as a starter or training run for longer ultras. The course is 37.4 miles from Norwich to Reepham Station and back (fun run option of 18.7 miles for those stopping at Reepham) following Marriotts Way.

Ben Letzer finished 4th overall with a time of 5.21.18 whilst Mel Porter came 10th in 5.57.54

In the Fun (!?) Run Ellie Bye and Alan Bushell finished together in 2.24.42 5for 5th place.

Holt 10k incorporating The County Championships

The wind and the off road sections of this multi-terrain course proved quite demanding for many of the runners and Colin Robilliard made it even more difficult for himself by biking the undulating route from Norwich to Holt with a strong wind to keep him company. But as we all know Colin, this didn’t stop him from running hard and winning the 1st  60+ award for the main race and the 1st 60+ County Championship medal.  First home for the club was Lawrence Wade in a time of 36.57 (just 5 seconds off  his p.b.). The rest of the Jags ran well with Matthew Crane and Emma Fox running the distance for the first time.

Mablethorpe Marathon and Fenland 10

Colin Robilliard has recently completed 2 events.

In the  Mablethorpe marathon on the 6th October, Colin in his own words had a “partial meltdown” due to dehydration at the 3/4 stage, but still finished with a time of 3.23.40 (Diamond Standard). Colin came away with the first prize in the V60 category and the time has also given him the club marathon age group record.

The Following week, Colin had recovered sufficiently to run the Fenland 10 mile race, and showing no after effects from the previous weeks efforts he ran a time of 1.04.30 (Platinum standard) once more taking 1st prize in his age category and giving him the club age group 10 mile record.
