Trowse 10k

On a tough course not normally known for producing fast times, the 6 competing Jaguars earned their chocolate in excellent style. Three of our runners brushed aside the 2 tough climbs with Mark Harmer and Rebecca Widdows both taking a minute each from their personal bests, but what a run by Katherine Garwood who beat her previous best by over a minute and a half . Well done also to the other three Jaguars who all ran very good times given the course and conditions, especially to Becky Durant who was rewarded for her efforts with second prize in her age category. This clearly bodes very well for all the runners times when the going gets flat.

Roger Wing Good Friday 10k

A biting head wind and a rolling first half to this race meant that personal bests were going to be in short supply and so it proved for the four Jaguars who journeyed south to Ditchingham for this race run by Bungay Black Dog Running Club. Steve Bates came home in 20th place overall with a gold standard 38.25, followed by Richard Collyer, 44.17 (silver) Denver Slowther 45.17 (bronze) and Dave Simpson 51.51 (silver).

We had members running the distance for the first time, p.b’s, and numerous category prizes. Lawrence Wade, Sze-Ming Cheung , Ellie Bye and Jackie Harrop were racing the distance for the first time for the club. Broadland Half Marathon 2013

The 12 Jags who ran the Broadland Half  Marathon found the hills and wind rather challenging but that didn’t stop 4 achieving p.b.s. Three of these were ladies, so come on lads your turn in the next race. Having said that Sze, Ben and Dean did well to win the senior men’s team prize.  Full Results

Warwick Castle Half Marathon

Ian Cleminson, one of our newest members, travelled southwards for the first running of the British Heart Foundation Warwick Castle Half Marathon. In his first run in an orange Jags top he ran well to finish in a silver standard time of 1.44.28.

Swavesey Half Marathon

Richard Collyer didn’t feel up for 20 miles so instead travelled slightly further afield to Swavesey, just north of Cambridge for the first ever Swavesey half marathon. With only 34 feet of elevation over the whole course this is as flat a race as you will find, and with no wind at all to contend with, conditions proved perfect for running. Richard ran a silver standard personal best of 1.40.13.

Wymondham 20

Ben Letzer fresh from his win in the Winter Poppyline Ultra sprinted round the Wymondham 20 in a time of 2.06.31 taking 13th place overall and at the same time producing a p.b. and beating his own club record for the distance. With 20 mile races being a bit of a rarity 7 of the 10 Jaguars running the Wymondham 20 were doing so for the first time. Best of the first timers was Sze-Ming Cheung running a silver standard 2.26.03. Jackie Bye was first lady home in a time of 3.11.26.

Barcelona Half Marathon

Just 1 year after joining the club with the beginners running sessions Jenny Welsh and Annette Yeomanson were amongst the 14, 000 runners to take part in the Barcelona Half Marathon. The race went through the Gothic quarter, then the streets of Barcelona before finishing on the coast and on a lovely day for running they were cheered the whole way round the course by large crowds to times of  2.39.05 for Annette and 2.45.15 for Jenny. For both ladies this was their first half marathon, and clearly undaunted, their entries are already in for the Amsterdam Half in October.

For any Jaguars thinking of running races abroad, Jenny and Annette used the services of  Running Crazy and are full of praise for the service they received. They arranged accommodation, transfers, collection of race numbers as well as organising a post run celebration and providing a DVD containing video footage and photos.
